  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, followed by sour cream and vanilla extract—mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Divide batter into two bowls; mix cocoa powder into one bowl. Layer red velvet batter in cupcake liners followed by blue velvet batter.
  6. Gently swirl the batters with a toothpick for a marbled effect.
