  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon Fine Espresso Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Fine Salt
  • 1 Cup Light or Dark Brown Sugar (packed)
  • 1 Whole Large Egg + 1 Large Yolk (room temp)
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Paste or Extract
  • 4 Ounces Semi-Sweet or Dark Chocolate Bar (roughly chopped)
  • 1/2 Cup Homemade Toffee Bits or Store-Bought
  • Flaky Sea Salt as garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/4 cup unsalted butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 1 whole egg, 1 egg yolk (room temperature), and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract; mix until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons espresso powder, and 1/2 teaspoon fine salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just blended.
  5. Gently stir in 4 ounces chopped chocolate and 1/2 cup toffee bits.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and top with flaky sea salt.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown on top. Allow cooling before cutting into squares.
