  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (or alternative)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Add onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  2. Season with salt and pepper; stir in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Simmer until liquid reduces.
  3. Butter one side of each bread slice. Preheat skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place two slices of bread butter-side down in the skillet. Layer cheddar cheese, beef mixture, and mozzarella on top; cover with another slice of bread butter-side up.
  5. Grill for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese melts completely.
  6. Slice in half and serve warm.
