Warm up your chilly days with our delightful Smoky Masala Chai! This cozy beverage combines the bold flavors of smoky black tea with a fragrant blend of spices, creating an aromatic experience that envelops you in comfort.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp loose-leaf smoky black tea or 2 tea bags
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 45 black peppercorns
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 green cardamom pods, slightly crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 12 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 star anise (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and star anise (if using). Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the smoky black tea and steep for 3-4 minutes, adjusting according to your taste preference.
  3. Stir in your choice of milk and brown sugar. Simmer on low heat for another 3-4 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and strain the chai into mugs using a fine mesh strainer.
