Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chili garlic sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked rice, to serve
  • 1/2 cup steamed broccoli, to serve

Instructions

  1. In a medium-size bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients. Mixing them well ensures every piece of chicken gets coated evenly. Marinate for at least ten minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the sauce. Set this mixture aside.
  3. Heat oil in a wide skillet over medium flame. Once hot, lay down the marinated chicken pieces. Cook until golden brown and fully cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet with the cooked chicken. Let it simmer uncovered for about five minutes.
  5. Stir in sesame seeds and green onions for added texture and freshness. Serve over a bed of rice alongside steamed broccoli.
