  • 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp Water (for béchamel)
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Sugar

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice onions and sauté in olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until caramelized.
  2. In the same skillet, whisk flour into melted butter and gradually add heavy cream to create a béchamel sauce.
  3. Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions and seasonings.
  4. Cook cavatappi macaroni in salted water until slightly firm (al dente) and drain.
  5. Combine pasta with the béchamel mixture until evenly coated.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden.
