Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons espresso powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup finely chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). Add melted butter, eggs, and salt, then gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  2. For the filling, mix softened butter, brown sugar, espresso powder, and cinnamon in a bowl. Prepare chopped dark chocolate.
  3. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly over it, and sprinkle with chocolate. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces.
  4. Place slices in a greased baking dish and let rise again (about 30 minutes). Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar with milk, vanilla extract, melted chocolate, and espresso powder until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
