  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 packets RapidRise yeast
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 6 tablespoons butter (for the dough)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter (for the filling)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • â…“ cup sugar (for the filling)
  • ½ cup butter (softened, for the icing)
  • 1 cup hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (for the icing)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • Milk (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, cocoa powder, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine warm water and melted butter. Mix into dry ingredients along with the egg until combined.
  4. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 4-6 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a covered bowl for 10 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Roll tightly from one side into a log shape and cut into 12 pieces.
  8. Place rolls cut-side down in the prepared pan and let them rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  9. Bake for 25-35 minutes until cooked through. Cool for 20 minutes before icing.
  10. For the icing, beat softened butter with powdered sugar and hazelnut spread until creamy; drizzle over warm rolls.
