  • 500 ml milk
  • 100 g white sugar
  • 7 g active dry yeast
  • 640 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g dark cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 120 g cream cheese
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 120 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp dark cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and warm milk until lukewarm. Combine in a bowl with white sugar and yeast; let sit until bubbly.
  2. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla extract; knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional ground coffee for filling while dough rises.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread with butter curls and sprinkle with filling.
  6. Roll tightly from one end to another; slice into even pieces and place in a greased baking dish to rise again.
  7. Preheat oven while letting rolls rest; bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For frosting, combine cream cheese, milk, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls.
