  • 200 g apples (grated)
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g butter
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salted caramel sauce by melting sugar and combining it with butter and heavy cream until smooth.
  2. Whisk together dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugars with grated apples, then add oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until blended.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture gently until just combined.
  5. Pour into prepared pans and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Make the buttercream by whipping together room temperature butter and powdered sugar; then mix in caramel sauce.
  7. Once cooled, layer the cake with buttercream and drizzle with salted caramel.
