  • 4 cups granulated sugar (plus extra for rolling)
  • 4 cups water (plus extra for blanching)

Instructions

  1. Scrub the oranges under running water and slice them into ⅛-inch rounds.
  2. Blanch the orange slices in boiling water for 10 minutes, then cool them quickly in ice water.
  3. Prepare a syrup by boiling 4 cups of sugar with 4 cups of water until dissolved.
  4. Simmer the blanched slices in the syrup on low heat for 45-60 minutes until translucent.
  5. Dry the slices on wire racks in the oven at 175°F for about 30 minutes, then coat in granulated sugar before drying further for another hour.
  6. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
