  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 onion (finely diced & sliced)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth (low sodium)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper until combined. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat and brown each patty for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until softened. Whisk in flour and cook for about 2 minutes. Gradually add beef broth and heavy cream while stirring until smooth.
  4. Nestle browned patties back into the gravy mixture. Cover tightly and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. Let rest for about 10 minutes before serving with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
